Fog of War

Other Empires cannot peer at the workings inside your Areas from a distance because of the Fog of War. It does not cover Areas you own.

The Fog of War occurs at two levels:

  1. Partial Fog (70% opacity): Population density and terrain are partially visible, but Strategic Buildings, Production and remaining infrastructure cannot be determined.
  2. Complete Fog (100% opacity): No details about the Area are visible.

From Orbit

Fleets orbiting a world can see all the strategic buildings, population infrastructure, etc., in Areas owned by their empire. A Partial Fog overlays all other Areas when the Fleet is in orbit. When the Fleet leaves orbit a Complete Fog overlays these Areas.

On The Ground

Empires need boots on the ground in the form of an Agent or Army to lift the Fog of War. Agents lift the fog from the Area in their current location. The presence of an Army in an Area clears the Fog of War in adjacent Areas as well. Areas outside this zone are covered by a Complete Fog.
