Areas
Areas within Worlds are where much of the game is played. Here you will find markets, production, ground battles, etc., supported by the Area’s population.
General Information
- Worlds (planets or moons) can have between 1 to 91 Areas depending on size.
- An Area is roughly the same size as North America.
- Areas can be unclaimed.
- Zoom Levels:
- All the areas on a world
- Seven Areas: 1 in middle and 6 adjacent
- One Area
Terrains
There are 280 distinct area terrain types covering environments from molten, hot, warm, temperate, cool and cold to frozen. In turn, they are grouped into 10 primary archetypes: Plains, Desert, Rough, Barren, Mountains, Hills, Ocean, Swamp, Forest and Tundra. For example, a terrain may be named Nullarbor, yet its graphical archetype is classified as Plains. Each individual terrain, regardless of archetype, possesses unique production modifiers that influence manufacturing, mining, research and organic output.

An Area’s border color identifies how the owner is recognized by your empire.

Fog of War
Other Empires cannot peer at the workings inside your Areas from a distance because of the Fog of War. It does not cover Areas you own.
The Fog of War occurs at two levels:
- Partial Fog (70% opacity): Population density and terrain are partially visible, but Strategic Buildings, Production and remaining infrastructure cannot be determined.
- Complete Fog (100% opacity): No details about the Area are visible.
