Starting Colony Positions

Before players can start game play they must choose from one of 31 different starting colonies. These colonies are populated by one or two different races:

The Valdus are renowned for their eagerness for throwing themselves into testing situations. Galactic exploration is one such calling that many answer, eager to test their strength, courage and wit against the unknown. Unfortunately this group was stranded on the planet after the connecting gate went out of operation. To the Valdus though, this is just another opportunity to prove themselves and earn their name.

Empire requires land; no-one understands this as well as the Gervians. Over the centuries, they have become masters of exploring, analyzing and then settling distant worlds in order to bring them into the Gervian fold. Everyone with an ounce of ambition either finances these settlement initiatives, or if they lack the resources, go themselves with the dream of one day owning land of their own.

Cornucopia Project

Moving through the Quantum Gate was a challenge and a thrill for the Inarians. As an opportunity to provide food for the home world and to explore new unique flora and fauna, the new colony represents a unique lure to the Inarian’s mindset. The destruction of the Gate forced them to rise to a greater challenge than they expected.

Archaeological Expedition

The past can act as a window into the future. The Charians in particular are interested in finding lost knowledge which may enhance their own understanding of the universe. One among many scientific expeditions was left stranded on an alien planet after the gates were lost. Now, they must turn their minds to survival as well seeking knowledge.

Exile Paradise

(Masian)

With the continual famines striking Nagor, the Masians realized that they needed to find new sources of food. This sparked wholesale exodus of the Grundner classes to these untapped, lush organic planets along with builder overlords to oversee the construction of new colonies. Now cut off from home, these colonists must adapt to the new challenges of their situation.

Pandorite Exploration Colony

Much of the Techie wealth on Daggett 5 was derived from the extraction and exploitation of the rich Pandorite veins. As those sources are depleting rapidly, the many mercantile conglomerates have dispatched exploration teams to find new supplies. The destruction of the gates has left their contractual obligations null and void. This provides entirely new opportunities for profit depending, of course, on their ability to survive alone and isolated.

Oathbound Pride

(Maratasen)

The past century was hard for most members of the Concordium, but the Maratasen came through the struggles stronger than ever. War had led to opportunity and opportunity to plenty. Populations surged and land become scarce. To relieve some of the pressure, Clan Lords ordered some of the smaller Prides off world to establish new colonies.

Ursian Arbitration Office

The rule of law has always been an important part of the Ursian psyche, an ideal they have happily exported throughout the Concordium. In order to better facilitate justice and order, groups of Ursian law makers developed arbitration officers. Sworn to neutrality, they could oversee any dispute. Now that their connection to friendly space has been severed, their dedication to impartiality will be sorely tested.
